Prematric Merit Scholarship for Students studying in Secondary Class (Std. Vth to Xth)

About the Scheme

Department Name

The Social Justice and Special Assistance Department of Maharashtra Government administers the Prematric Merit Scholarship. This scheme is dedicated to encouraging educational advancement among Scheduled Caste (SC) students studying from 5th to 10th standard.

Overview

The scheme focuses on providing financial aid to SC students enrolled in government, government-aided, or government non-aided private schools across Maharashtra. It aims to ease the financial burden on families and promote consistent school attendance and academic excellence.

Why is the Prematric Merit Scholarship Important?

This scholarship empowers students from marginalized communities by providing monetary support that helps them continue their education without interruption. Education is a vital tool for social upliftment and economic empowerment, and this scheme contributes directly to reducing dropout rates among SC students.

Detailed Benefits of the Scheme

  • Monetary Support: Students from 5th to 7th standard receive Rs. 50 per month for a maximum of 10 months per academic year.
  • Higher Assistance for Senior Students: Students from 8th to 10th standard receive Rs. 100 per month for the same duration.
  • Instalment Disbursement: Scholarship money is disbursed in two instalments to ensure students maintain attendance and academic progress.
  • Attendance-Based Payments: No benefits are given beyond 10 months. If a student attends fewer than 10 months, the payment is proportional to the months attended from the date of admission.
  • Encourages Academic Performance: Students must pass their class to remain eligible, promoting dedication and consistent effort.

Very detailed analysis. Does the strict liability rule apply even if the truck was modified by the owner?
